About Don: (a biography, in his own words)
|Don Donegan (left) & Friends 1961|
"I started playing guitar in college at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, where I found other musicians and formed a 4 piece rock band called the Sig Ep Heartbeats and played the motels at Daytona Beach on weekends and during Spring Break." ( I have a CD of original songs elsewhere on this web site.)
In 1979, I went into music full-time and founded the CT Songwriters Association a non-profit music arts group dedicated to improving the art and craft of original music. For 12 years I sang and played three instruments at the same time: Moog Taurus bass pedals with my feet, 12-string guitar and harmonica. I played four nights a week at the U.S. Sub-Base in Groton, CT and developed a song repertoire of over 200 songs. During the 80's and "90's I fronted my own 5 piece country band: Don Donegan's Band, and had several female duo partners including Lisa McKenna, Susie Whitte and Ginger Primeau. Since 1991 my One Man Show has consisted of vocals, guitar, harmonica and prerecorded bass, drums and keyboards. From 1986 to 1998 I played the Florida R.V. and Campground circuit each winter traveling the I-4 corridor
from Daytona to Tampa entertaining thousands of "Snowbirds" at various Parks and Campgrounds.
Today as Artistic Director of Rainbow Music located in Glastonbury, Connecticut, I offer 11 different shows for kids and adults. I also teach voice, guitar and harmonica privately and group voice lessons for Glastonbury's Adult Ed program and voice and guitar at Manchester Community College's Continuing Ed program. Over the years I have performed thousands of shows including but not limited to:

- First Night Danbury
- First Night Torrington.
- Lebanon Country Fair (29 years and counting!)
